In order to make sure that your WebQuest stays aligned with your unit, you will need to copy and paste 3 things from your Stages 1 and 2 from your unit for Dr. Grace's class. (This will also help Dr. Theresa give you better feedback on your Intro, Task, and Conclusion.) Then you will write your first drafts of your Introduction and Conclusion.

Introduction
(Set the stage, give us any background info that we might need to know (but just a hint), this is your HOOK. Provide a segue to the Task . . . make your reader want to click to the next section. There should be nothing that sounds like school work in this section. Don't give away what's going to happen in the Task.) Scholastic Corporation is an American international educational, publishing, and media-oriented company. This is a very large, prominent company! They dominate the educational market by publishing and selling materials and books for parents, teachers, students, and school systems. Richard Robinson, the CEO of Scholastic, is looking for someone to lead the way into the newly developed market of online book review, that's where you come in.
Task
(This story should match the Task Description/Summary from your unit in Stage 2 (Through what authentic performance task will students demonstrate understandings?). You can copy and paste from Dr. Grace's wiki.Tell the story of the Role, Audience, Situation, and Product & Performance. Be a story teller. Save any classroom-specific information for the Process. Build the scenario and stay in character. You can reference the Introduction but try not to duplicate the information that's in the Introduction. Be sure to write this in second person ("you work for an international design firm" "you and your colleagues at the television studio" "your team wants to submit the winning entry"...))
You are a promising, professional reviewer looking to influence all readers in a positive way. Scholastic has just opened up a contest for professional reviewers to publish an appropriate, interactive review on their website. If you win the contest, you will receive a full-time position in Scholastic's new reader's review, online branch--Reviewers Without Borders and an all-expense-paid trip to the destination of your choice! Using a program called iBook, your task is to create an accurate, professional representation of Where the Red Fern Grows to convince potential readers to want to read. Your iBook must be creative, content-driven, and have multiple slides with: images, conflict descriptions, and thematic analysis. Remember, you must be enthusiastic in your presentation and act professional for these executives to hire you full-time!
Conclusion
(Tie everything the participants have done back to the Goal. Why did they go through all of this? Tie the scenario to the real world. Remind them of the "Big Idea" that they were supposed to gain from this, just in case they didn't make the connection on their own. Don't get preachy. If you ask a question here, it has to be rhetorical. No work or assignments should be included. Short is good.)
You have now presented and submitted a professional iBook to the executives from Scholastic. They will now deliberate among themselves to see if you will get the position and win the all-expense-paid trip. You have done all that you can to display your professionalism, and have shown just how enthusiastic a reviewer can be. It is your task now to keep in touch with Scholastic, and continue to review novels for parents, students, and teachers to read!
